Part-Time Special Education Teacher St. John Paul II Catholic School – Mitchell, SD.

St. John Paul II Catholic School (Preschool–6th grade) is seeking a passionate, faith-filled Part-Time Special Education Teacher to join our mission of nurturing critical thinkers and lifelong learners through a Catholic Liberal Education.

Position Summary

You will provide specially designed instruction, develop and monitor IEPs/student support plans, deliver accommodations and modifications, and collaborate with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to help students with diverse learning needs thrive academically, socially, and spiritually in a joyful Catholic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and implement individualized education plans with measurable goals and ongoing progress monitoring
• Deliver differentiated, evidence-based instruction and positive behavior supports
• Co-plan and co-teach with general education teachers to promote inclusion
• Maintain open communication and strong partnerships with families, including IEP meetings
• Weave Catholic faith and values into daily teaching while modeling the Gospel in word and action
• Participate in faculty life, school events, and professional/spiritual growth

Qualifications

• Active, practicing Catholic in good standing who joyfully witnesses the faith
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Valid South Dakota teaching certification with SPED endorsement (or ability to obtain)
• Experience working with elementary students with disabilities is preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
• Love for young children and commitment to their dignity as children of God

Hours: Part-time (specific schedule to be determined based on student needs)
