We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Director of Religious Education to lead our faith formation programs. This is a vital ministry opportunity to nurture the faith of children and youth, equip catechists and volunteers, and coordinate sacramental preparation that will shape lives for eternity
Position Summary
As the Director of Religious Education, you will be primarily responsible for the recruitment and formation of all catechists, youth ministers, and other volunteers in the religious education program. In conjunction with this, you will provide the parishes with the best possible religious education program for students from kindergarten through high school.
Key Responsibilities
Religious Education (K-12):
- Complete coordination of the religious education program, including developing the annual calendar, registration, purchasing supplies, recruiting and providing support for catechists
- Complete all necessary Safe Environment Training
Sacramental Preparation: First Confession, First Communion and Confirmation:
- Complete coordination of all sacramental formation
- Coordinate with pastor all sacramental liturgies, parent meetings and rehearsals
- Collect all necessary documents and student information for recording in the sacramental records
- Create and distribute programs for each liturgy
Essential Qualifications
- A fully initiated Catholic who is passionate about living out and passing on the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Willingness to take responsibility for the preparedness of all volunteers. With a generous and positive attitude, the DRE must be willing and able to equip all volunteers with whatever they need to succeed in the Catholic formation of their students
- A good understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Faith is necessary
- An excellent understanding and working knowledge of all desktop applications included in the Microsoft Office Suite and various web applications
Education
- A bachelor's degree in theology or closely related field is helpful, but not required
Experience
- 2 or more years of experience in administration is preferred
- Experience in parish work and as a catechist is highly preferred
