6th-8th Grade ELA Teacher

Job Summary:

Sacred Heart School in Yankton is seeking a 6th-8th grade English Language Arts teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Ideal candidates will hold or be able to attain a South Dakota teacher certification for 6th-8th grade. This position is full time. At Sacred Heart School we provide a double block of ELA, having a reading and language arts class.

Requirements:

Promote the mission of Sacred Heart School and model the teachings of the Catholic Church
Support the growth and development of students in their faith
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the Catholic school curriculum, Reading and Language Arts standards, curriculum, instruction and assessment
Provide timely feedback on assignments and maintain accurate records and progress
Strong rapport with students, faculty, staff and parents
Willingness to participate in a faith-filled community
Experience in working with middle school level students and maintaining classroom management
